Darumbal Community Youth Service Inc. engaged Phil for our inaugural Youth Forum in 2019 to assist with creating a simple, fun, and easy way to present information for the young people involved in the forum. Phil was able to create a great informatic cartoon map based on the young people’s thoughts which provided an easy to read reflection of the day. BWH Communication engaged Comic Express on behalf of Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) to provide an illustration that would bring to life the changes that have occurred at the airport over the past 12 years. As part of a presentation by the CEO to staff, the illustration was designed to take the place of otherwise copy heavy and uninspiring PowerPoint slides.
Comic Express was a real find for us. We had an idea of what we were seeking but the Comic Express team took a rough concept and turned it into a journey in pictures that achieved the right balance between humour, entertainment, and facts.
While Comic Express was able to capture our thoughts in carefully crafted illustrations, the most amazing part of the project was that Phil Judd drew the illustration in front of a crowd of close to 200 people at the same time that the CEO was delivering her speech.
It turned a speech into an event.
Careful planning, an eye for timing and a steady hand were just some of the terrific services Comic Express provided. The team interpreted our brief to perfection and delivered a very high-quality product at breathtaking speed.

Gladly say that the workshops were enjoyed by the children, and they were all involved and presented some exceptionally good cartoon characters to share with friends and family. Pet New Zealand magazine commissioned Comic Express to draw a number of cartoons to illustrate some of our feature articles. On each cartoon Phillip Judd worked extremely fast and had a rough sketch to show us within 24 hours, then he had the final artwork finished and sent to us the following day. Once seeing the rough sketch if we had any changes (which was rare) Phil was more than happy to do them. - I recently engaged Phil to develop Graphic Recordings of workshop discussions during a leadership conference for one of my clients. I had been keen to explore different ways of capturing discussion outcomes that moved beyond the traditional list of bullet points generally produced after a facilitated session. Using visual icons and symbols to display agreed outcomes was a great leap forward and during the sessions, participants would wander over to review, comment and have a laugh at some of the ways in which he captured what they had said. The large-scale visual output is now owned by the client and can be displayed in their offices as a reminder of their commitments to each other.
I found Phil to be easy to work with both in the lead up and then during our event. He is curious, and he focused on asking good questions in advance of the conference to ensure he could deliver what I was hoping for and this significantly built my confidence in how we would work together.
